Everyone has a story to tell, and here is ours.

My name is Becky and I’m a cow-aholic.  It all started with a couple of Scottish Highland cows.  Actually, it started with a team of Percheron draft horses and horse driving lessons, which is how Roman and I met.  About a year later, after scrolling through Pinterest and seeing cute, fluffy mini cows, two Scottish Highland cows from Missouri arrived at our place.  The original plan was just to have fun raising some babies but the cows were too neat not to share with others.  After several interesting and fortunate events the idea of starting a petting zoo was bornas an avenue to showcase our Highlands.  Our favorite time of day is after chores are done when we can sit in the barn and enjoy the sound of our furbabies happily munching on hay, and I wanted other people to be able to share this too.

This is where our motto came from:  Who doesn’t need a little barn therapy??

As our zoo has gained popularity, our faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has also grown and strengthened, and our little petting zoo has become our ministry.  In early 2023 we decided to rebrand our zoo and Leap of Faith Homestead was born.  We chose this name as it has truly been a leap of faith, and the more trust we put in God the further we are able to share our love for His creatures with others.  We have found ourselves in so many interesting places, from a philanthropy event for domestic violence awareness in Boulder to a suicide awareness rally in Fort Morgan and a community baptism service in a park in Aurora, not to mention numerous library events, birthday parties, and even employee appreciation days.

In the fall of 2023 we added the carriage ride portion of the business. Roman had a lifetime of experience driving horses and we decided to add this as our own service rather than continuing to work for other carriage companies.

We so enjoy watching our animals bring smiles to faces and, we think at least for a little while, some peace to the soul.  My dad says we are truly missionaries.  We are so grateful to be stewards of these amazing animals!

So thank you for visiting our petting zoo and we hope you have found some barn therapy and some Good News.

We would be honored to pray for you, so please leave a prayer request!

God Bless and we’ll see you down the road,

Roman and Becky Raber
